Wisconsin Cosmetology License Information
In order to obtain a license in Barbering, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Electrology, or Nail Technology in the state of Wisconsin, individuals must complete the requirements listed below. Other requirements may apply.
Barber: 1800 hours
Cosmetologist: 1800 hours
Esthetician: 450 hours
Electrologist: 450 hours
Nail Technician: 300 hours

Cosmetology Application Fee: $15
Cosmetology License Fee: $12
Electrologist Application Fee: $20
Electrologist License Fee: $20
Nail Technologist Application Fee: $10
Nail Technologist License Fee: $12
Continuing Education Requirements:
The examining board may impose continuing education requirements on licensees either as a part of the disciplinary process to ensure competency, or if necessary, to preserve the public health, safety and/or welfare.
Reciprocity:
All individuals must have a minimum of 4000 hours experience in licensed practice, and never have been disciplined by the licensing authority in their state of licensure. Any individual who does not meet these requirements must attend an approved school in Wisconsin, and will receive licensure after graduation.
